The word yoga means “to yoke,” to unite, to bring together what has become separate. In a world where disconnection is increasingly the norm; disconnection from ourselves, from each other, from nature, and from meaning. This course gently guides us back into connection through a holistic lens.
Designed for complete beginners and those looking to reconnect with their practice in a more intentional, meaningful way, this course invites curiosity, compassion, and absolutely no pressure to touch your toes. You’ll be guided through each session with care, offered choices and options throughout, and gently encouraged to take practices off the mat and into daily life through completely optional home practice suggestions to support integration and wellbeing.
In this carefully curated course, we intentionally build on our learning week by week, deepening both understanding and experience. You’ll explore a variety of yoga styles including vinyasa, hatha, yin, restorative, and yoga nidra. Our approach honours yoga in its fullest sense, grounding each practice within an accessible framework wisdom of yogic philosophy. Weekly themes and areas of focus will be woven into classes to provide structure and meaning and invite reflection both on and off the mat. The classes will also include somatic practices and more contemporary techniques that support nervous system regulation and to initiate the relaxation response. These gentle, embodied movements guide us out of the head, and into the body restoring a sense of safety and presence.
At The Well, we believe in understanding not just the how, but the why. We go beyond simply guiding through the practice. We offer insights into why it works to deepen understanding and to help bridge the gap between the wisdom of ancient traditions and the clarity of modern science. This knowledge empowers participants allowing the practices to be more easily transitioned off the mat and into daily life, supporting wellbeing long after the course ends.
Each class will close with the guided meditation of yoga nidra- this nourishing practice offers opportunity for rest and restoration which has been proven to help with sleep, reduce anxiety, support immunity and cognitive function. Yoga nidra carries you into a liminal space between waking and sleep, where true healing and nervous system repair can occur while supporting integration of the practice. On the final evening of the course, we’ll gather around the fire, sip tea, and close the course in community.
This course isn’t about perfect poses or polished shapes. It’s not about touching your toes or keeping up, it’s about slowing down, tuning in, and learning to meet yourself with kindness exactly where you are. We ask you to show up just as you are. No fixing, no forcing. Some days the body feels open, other days it doesn’t, all of it is welcome. We practice not to achieve, but to feel. We breathe not to escape, but to come home. We show up not to strive, but to accept. We approach not with judgement, but with curiosity. The mat becomes a mirror, a place where we listen closely, soften often, and remember that our bodies aren’t projects, they’re part of our wisdom.
