At The Well we offer different kinds of yoga classes because no one practice suits all needs. No two days, or two people are the same. The range of classes honours this and allows choice. We encourage you to listen to your body and engage in a practice that best suits your needs.
Each class style offers a unique blend of yoga styles and somatic practices. Yoga styles include hatha yoga, vinyasa flow, yin yoga, restorative yoga and yoga nidra. Some practices invite more movement, others more stillness, some invite more grounding, others more heat. All are equally valuable. Although classes may embody different qualities, all practices are rooted in the same intention and with the same holistic approach; to explore yoga in its wider sense, to honour the body’s wisdom, to support transitioning of practices off the mat and to support reconnection with Self, others, meaning and the natural world.
Water teaches us how to flow and how to yield, how to move and how to be still. In this class, we follow water’s lead, beginning with gentle movement and rhythmic flow sequences to stir energy and awaken the body. Gradually, the pace softens and slows as we ebb into stillness, inviting deeper presence and release.
You can expect a nourishing blend of hatha postures and gentle vinyasa, interwoven with somatic practices and breathwork to support nervous system regulation. Through this kind of practice we activate vagal tone and support the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, supporting emotional regulation, healing and resilience.
We close with the deep rest of yoga nidra, a restorative guided meditation that can support a shift in brainwave states encouraging deep rest and cognitive restoration, similar to the effects of deep sleep. This practice invites you to float between waking and dreaming, where the body and mind can truly restore.
Earth holds us. It steadies, nourishes, and grounds. This class is an invitation to root down and turn inward. It’s a slower, more contemplative practice that invites depth through stillness. But slow does not mean simple. Sometimes, meeting ourselves in quiet can be the most courageous thing we do. This is a practice of soft strength and of deep listening.
In Earth practice, you can expect a grounded blend of yin and restorative yoga, held with care and intention. In yin we hold deep, sustained stretches that can invite sensation, restorative yoga offers total support. This class offers the body a chance to soften and the nervous system a chance to settle and relax. This class particularly works with the fascia, the connective tissue that stores tension and some say even memory, helping to release holding patterns, reduce inflammation and improve overall mobility. Breathwork and somatic practices may be woven throughout to gently guide you into deeper presence.
We close the practice with the spacious rest of yoga nidra, a deeply restful, guided meditation that invites the body to soften and the mind to settle. This practice gently carries you into a liminal space between waking and sleep, where true healing and nervous system repair can occur.
Fire is the great transformer. It burns through what no longer serves leaving space for new growth. In this class we work with the element of fire as a force for release, clarity, and renewal.
Expect a dynamic and creative vinyasa flow practice with the stove lit, stoked and burning. The sequence will build gradually, synchronising breath and movement to ignite energy, create heat and challenge patterns. You will be guided through postures that incorporate strength, flexibility and balance. Somatic practices and breathwork may be integrated to safely explore intensity and sensation, strengthening the window of tolerance and building emotional resilience. You will be guided to notice what arises for you and invited to deepen your connection with your intuition through interoceptive awareness. This is a space where you are invited to feel fully, move honestly and follow your intuition.
We close and seal this practice with the quiet medicine of yoga nidra, a guided meditation for rest that supports emotional balance, healing, nervous system regulation and inner connection. This is the time after all the movement of the class where the practice settles and integrates, where we return to stillness and remember how to simply be.
